Earlier this week, showrunner Ildy Modrovich tweeted a message to her fellow cast and crew members of the show alongside a photo of them all.
It said: “ I miss this family… and hope to see them very soon. ;)” The production of season 5 was halted due to the COVID crises. Now that economies around the world are opening production on Lucifer will resume.
Actor DB Woodside (also known as Amenadiel from Lucifer) joined the excitement by tweeting a reassuring message to impatient fans: “Dear #Lucifans Good things are happening. Pls, continue to be patient.” Let’s hope that the wait won’t be for much longer.”
Until then, we can only hypothesise about what to expect from the upcoming episodes in the 5th season. Last month, fellow showrunner Joe Henderson gave fans a bit of a tease of what we can anticipate with a photograph from one of the last days of filming.
On his Twitter, he uploaded a photo of stars Tom Ellis and Lauren German (Lucifer and Decker) and wrote: “My #lastnormalphoto is from the set on #Lucifer. We shut down production soon after, but God what a gorgeous day (and @LaurenGerman & @tomellis17 ain’t so bad either).”
While it didn’t give too much away, what is fascinating about the photo is the location.
The actors are in a garden, one that could be evidence that the show is going to visit the Garden of Eden in its 5th season.
Lucifer 4th season ended with some of the most influential twists yet. With even more Biblical action to come, one of the show's major stars has unveiled some crucial insight for the upcoming instalment.
Fans left the 4th season of Lucifer after the main cast endured their hardest test yet. Lucifer Morningstar has been separated from his true love Chloe Decker, new sparks could fly back on Earth.
The long-teased romance between Lucifer and his LAPD partner Chloe Decker finally made progress in the latest episode of the 4th Season.
Yielding to the prophecy of Father Kinley (Graham McTavish), Lucifer accepted Chloe as his first love before retreating to his domain in the underworld to keep the demonic forces suppressed.
With the gang stuck on Earth without Lucifer to shield them in 5th season-opening episodes, ‘Lucifans’ have been theorising how the human and heavenly cast will fare without the series’ lead’s diabolic influence.
After newcomer Eve (Inbar Levi) shook things up last season, Netflix subscribers have been speculating if any new pairings will emerge in Lucifer’s next outing.
Lucifer’s best friend Mazikeen was understandably struck by Eve, who hastily used the demonic bounty hunty to make the former ruler of Hell jealous.
Now Mazikeen has a chance to wipe the slate clean, some fans have suggested that the 5th season could be adding a demon/angel coupling into the mix.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight near the start of the lockdown, Lesley-Ann spoke with Katie Krause to hype her role in the upcoming season.
The Lucifer star revealed: “As an artist and the actress who's played this character for five years this is by far my best work. They give her some fantastic storylines and themes and ideas to explore.
“There are great scenes with D.B. You’re not sure; like are they ex-hookups, are they friends or where are they at?”
Mazikeen’s relationship with the alluring angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) has always had some sexual tension from their introduction back in season one.
However, when ET host Katie asked whether that romantic flare would be reignited in the fifth season, Lesley-Ann Brandt confirmed ‘Mazadiel’ was off the cards.
She continued: “No, I think that’s fair to say. But I think that what you will appreciate it at the end of that there are the angel and the demon.
“By default, they’re supposed to be on opposing sides, but both of those characters have evolved and by sheer force had to explore their humanity.”
Lesley-Ann was also able to confirm a key scene referring back to the 1st season that will give the audience a chance to reflect on how these two celestial beings have grown during their time among the mortals.
Finally, she added: “So in that, you see this blossoming of a new relationship between these two and it’s really beautiful. I was looking for the closure between those two.”
The relationship between the angel and demon was mostly left unexplored in season four, as Amenadiel was busy preparing to be a new father to Linda’s (Rachael Harris) new baby, Charlie.
Thankfully, Netflix’s new season order for Lucifer’s 5th outing has upped the next slate to 16 episodes, which will be divided into two parts. The 1st part should be released late this year, while the second part will be released in 2021.
