Pharrell Williams has added additional big hitters to his already stacked lineup for his inaugural Something in the Water Festival.
The April 26-28 festival in Virginia Beach, Va. will now feature Diddy, Usher, Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg. The weekend will also include a set from Teddy Riley.
The multi-day music festival and cultural experience on the beach in Pharrell’s hometown of Virginia Beach has already announced Missy Elliott, J Balvin, SZA, Travis Scott and Dave Matthews Band. Other headliners include Janelle Monáe, Diplo, Maggie Rogers, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Pusha T, Rosalía and Mac Demarco.
“We are excited to be a part of launching Something in the Water with Pharrell Williams,” said VP of Live Nation Touring Lesley Olenik in a release. “Pharrell has an incredible vision for his hometown this weekend and we can’t wait to bring it to life with the community of Virginia Beach.”
The debut festival will include musicians, personalities, scholars, students, artists, activists and athletes converging on Virginia Beach to activate and amplify, collaborate and co-author, shift and shape the future.
There will be a special screening and conversation presented by Ava Duvernay’s Array, her independent film distribution collaborative dedicated to the amplification of independent films by filmmakers of color and women of all kinds. The film featured will be festival favorite The Burial of Kojo written and directed by multi-disciplinary artist Samuel “Blitz” Bazawule, which has the dynamic gaze of magical realism and Afrofuturism and will premiere on Neflix March 31.
Other cultural activations will include moments with Deepak Chopra and Geoffrey Canada, as well as a Pop-Up Church Service and TRAP Karaoke.
